Gift Experiences UK for 2 or more people

Here are some ideas for getting on the water from just £10 per person. A sailing excursion in the Solent is a wonderful gift experience to celebrate a special birthday. There is no age limit and no experience is required. On the day bring a picnic to enjoy on-board if you wish. Your party will be impressed that you have not settled for the boring old gift ideas and you have come up with something original. All the family can join in and try their hand at operating the boat. Learn how to tie it up to the dockside with the correct knots and where to position the fenders. The Solent has its own micro climate with significantly more sunshine than the mainland. We very often leave the clouds behind as we potter under motor down the river where you can view the wild life on the marshes. Our standard boat takes 7 people and operates from Lymington right on the edge of the New Forest National Park through which you will pass on your way to the marina. But if your party exceeds 7 people, we can offer larger vessels to cope with any party size. We can actually organise excursions out on the water for up to 200 people so please feel free to enquire.

Yachts are Department of Transport certified and the skipper holds an RYA/MCA commercial endorsement. All equipment you require is carried on board including wet weather gear, life jackets and life lines. These gift ideas can be tailored to individual requirements. A short walk along the pontoon is required to access the yacht where a step up can be provided. Note that wheel chairs cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the activity and crew must be able to descend a companionway to the 'heads' below.

Why not try a Solent river cruise? The Solent has many rivers accessible at high water to the upper reaches. The Beaulieu river, Newtown river, and Keyhaven rivers have stunning scenery, while the Medina river and Hamble river are intriguing for their rich river life. All have quaint waterside bars, bistros or restaurants. In the last few months we have seen a seal regularly in one of the rivers and a dolphin playing at the entrance to another in addition to the many rare sea birds that can be spotted in the Solents bird sanctuaries. A summer evening river cruise to watch the sun setting with glass in hand is not to be missed.

Just a word about sea sickness. The motion on a sailing yacht with its deep keel stabilisers is totally different to the motion on a car ferry. It is virtually unheard of for people to feel sea sick on the yachts, we are very confident of this and encourage you to discount any fears on this subject.

We offer a weather guarantee on midweek Gift Experiences yacht charters. If strong winds or heavy rain are forcast we will postpone the outing and offer you some new dates.

Check on the solent sailing calendar link below left for the full list of Solent events this year.

ONE HOUR NON SAILING WELCOME ABOARD A 40FT SAILING YACHT

Minimum three people, children half price

ONE HOUR BOAT TRIP

Motor up the river to the town quay, then back down to the mouth of the river where it meets the Solent. Or head straight to the mouth of the river and hoist the sails for a short demonstration.

TWO HOUR EXCURSION

Once in the Solent, sail across to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight with a drinks stop outside the harbour entrance if required. Tide and wind conditions may permit a visit to the Beaulieu river to the east or Keyhaven nature reserve to the west. Those who like to fish may trawl some mackerel feathers along behind the boat or drop anchor and try some fishing on the bottom. Whilst at anchor you can put the kettle on

FOUR HOUR TRIP

Depending on tide times on the day, the famous yachting destination of Cowes can be reached to the east or the Needles lighthouse at the far western end of the Isle of Wight. The National Trust nature reserve at Newtown Creek on the island, the beach at Alum Bay and the Medina rivers with their rich river life are alternative destinations. There are options to go ashore for a short time where a variety of exciting bars and restaurants can be found. This trip is ideal when you are looking for gift ideas to celebrate a husbands or dads special birthday or with office colleagues for a Thursday evening team bonding outing from 6pm to 10pm.

FULL DAY CRUISE

A full day trip allows passage to the Hamble river, the intriguing Wooton Creek and Portsmouth harbour to the east or the beautiful beaches on Studland Bay and Poole harbour (the worlds second largest natural harbour) to the west. A variety of options exist for drinks and refreshments ashore or on board. Please note that we do not have a licence to sell alcohol but you may bring your own.
