Bavaria 38 'Dotty Dot'

General

There is wheel steering, a furling headsail and slab reefing mainsail with lazy jacks for ease of handling. The yacht is the 3 cabin version with berths for 8 people. Internal headroom is 1.9m maximum and there is clear permanent passage through to the fore cabin.

Layout

There are three cabins with 3 double berths and a single in the saloon which can be made into a double on one of the 38s.

Factory Extras

The yacht has the following extras which may not figure on other Bavaria 38s:

  • Third reef in the mainsail allowing a 70% sail area reduction for strong wind sailing
  • Side opening gates to allow less mobile people to board comfortably
  • Mid ship cleats for ease of attaching mooring springs (very useful when sailing single handed as it is very possible to do with this yacht with its electronic equipment and cockpit lead sail controls).
  • Refrigerated cool box
  • Second 140ah domestic battery
  • Automatic battery charger which starts charging batteries when shore supply connected
  • Extra headsail halyard with deck anchor point for the storm jib
  • Deck pump out for black water holding tank, essential when families are on board
  • Hot water calorifier

  • Raymarine Wind speed and direction indicator
  • Raymarine autohelm which can be set to follow waypoints, follow a set magnetic course, follow the wind shifts or tack the yacht when single handed plus many other features
  • Raymarine chart plotter allowing extensive use of waypoints and routes with Man Overboard function
  • Raymarine GPS allowing yachts position to be seen on chart plotter and integrated with DSC VHF radio to broadcast yachts position in event of an emergency
  • Raymarine Seatalk integration of above electronic equipments
  • Simrad DSC VHF intergrated with GPS and with cockpit extension speaker
